How StableTank handles account and aquarium data.
Last updated: May 27, 2026
This policy describes what we collect, how we use cloud providers (Supabase and Cloudflare), and how to contact us about your data.
This Privacy Policy explains how StableTank (https://stabletank.app), operated by Stephen Hyatt, collects, uses, stores, and protects information when you use the website, create an account, or save aquarium records.
This policy applies to information handled through the public website, cloud-backed account features, and related support channels.
StableTank may collect information you provide directly, including account details such as your email address, as well as aquarium-related content like tank profiles, water chemistry readings, maintenance logs, journal entries, stocking records, and other information you choose to save in the app.
The service may also store technical or operational information needed to run the product, such as authentication state, local preferences, dashboard settings, device or browser metadata, and error or diagnostic information generated while using the app.
- account and sign-in information
- tank setup details and equipment information
- water chemistry, maintenance, feeding, and stocking records
- journal notes, observations, and aquarium history
- app preferences, session state, and local browser storage used to support the experience
Some information may be stored locally in your browser (for example, preferences or data before you sign in). When you use cloud-backed features while signed in, aquarium data is stored with Supabase so it can sync to your account across sessions.
Cloud-backed data may include tank profiles, readings, maintenance and journal logs, stocking entries, and related account settings needed to operate dashboards and analytics.
StableTank uses information to operate the app, authenticate users, save tank history, display dashboards, generate chemistry and maintenance insights, support analytics features, improve reliability, and respond to support or operational issues.
Information may also be used to maintain security, investigate abuse, debug product problems, enforce terms, comply with legal obligations, and improve the user experience over time.
StableTank may use the aquarium data you enter to generate derived outputs such as nitrate forecasts, maintenance cadence insights, stocking context, algae diagnostics, and related decision-support views.
These generated outputs are based on the data available in your account or device and are used to provide product functionality. They do not change your ownership of the underlying information you submit.
StableTank does not sell your personal information. Information may be processed by service providers that help us run the product, including:
- Supabase — authentication, database storage, and account-backed sync (see Supabase’s privacy policy for how they handle infrastructure data)
- Cloudflare — website hosting and content delivery
- Transactional email related to sign-in and account security, sent through Supabase Auth and our email delivery provider
Information may be retained for as long as needed to provide the service, maintain your account, support product operations, resolve disputes, enforce agreements, and comply with legal or security obligations.
If you delete data in the app or request account deletion, some information may remain for a limited period in backups, logs, or operational systems before being fully removed, subject to technical constraints and applicable law.
You may be able to update or remove some aquarium data from within the app while signed in. You may also use the product without cloud sync by using local-only features where available.
Depending on where you live, you may have rights relating to access, correction, deletion, or withdrawal of consent. In Canada, personal information is handled in accordance with applicable privacy laws, including the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) where it applies.
To exercise privacy-related requests (including account deletion), email support@stabletank.app from the address associated with your account. We will respond within a reasonable period, typically within 30 days.
StableTank uses reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational measures to protect information, but no method of storage or transmission is completely secure.
You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your credentials and for activity under your account. If you believe your account has been compromised, contact support@stabletank.app and reset your password through the sign-in flow.
StableTank is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 without appropriate parental consent where required by law.
If you are under 13, you may use the service only with the involvement and consent of a parent or legal guardian. If you believe we have collected information from a child under 13 without proper consent, contact support@stabletank.app and we will take appropriate steps to delete it.
When you use cloud-backed features, your information may be stored and processed in United States (West) through Supabase, and may be processed in other regions where Cloudflare or our providers operate infrastructure.
By using cloud-backed features, you understand that your information may be transferred to and processed in jurisdictions that may have different privacy laws than your own. We rely on contractual and organizational safeguards offered by our providers where applicable.
StableTank may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect product changes, operational updates, legal requirements, or changes in service providers.
When updates are made, the effective date at the top of this page may be revised. Continued use of the service after an updated policy becomes effective constitutes acceptance of the revised policy where permitted by law.
